Techniques Manual Physical Therapy Manual Physical Therapy is the utilization of hands-on treatment to mobilize/manipulate the various tissues of the body in an effort to decrease pain, restore motion and provide an environment for tissue healing. The combination of manual therapy and exercise is well established throughout the literature, producing excellent outcomes in various conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, hip and knee osteoarthritis and ankle sprains.
At Glynn Physical Therapy we are Board Certified in Orthopedics and Fellowship trained in Manual Physical therapy. We are involved and up to date on the latest manual therapy research and teach these techniques at multiple universities.
Therapeutic Exercise Part of the recovery process requires strengthening, coordination, and endurance training of the affected musculature at and around your injured or painful area. Stronger and more capable musculature provides support to the joints decreasing stress on the area ultimately allowing for healing or pain reduction. Muscle strength and endurance without full range of motion does not allow for proper functional movements and thus may create a barrier to your progress. In many instances stretching exercises will be important to attain this motion and further create a more functional and natural movement pattern for your daily and sporting activities.
At Glynn Physical Therapy we will show you how to perform exercises in the proper way to improve your range of motion, strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. In addition, we also teach you how to perform these exercises at home, so you can maintain your results.
Education A full understanding of your condition and how it can be improved is paramount to your rehabilitation. At Glynn Physical Therapy we will synthesize the latest evidence and provide you with the most up to date treatment approach in a manner that assures a full understanding of how your goals will be achieved. As education extends beyond the clinic we will also be readily available for any questions you may have between treatment sessions.
Modalities Modalities include the applications of physical agents to reduce swelling, pain, and help accelerate the healing process.
